Joe Woodworth & CNY Racing took a very different route than most getting into the sport of running. In high school, Joe was involved in lacrosse, basketball, tennis and other sports, but always questioned what was so fun about running.
It was then in 1996, that Joe’s good friend, Nate, a great runner in high school, was killed in a car accident.
Later that year the annual Nate Race took place in honor of Nate Holdridge. The event begin in 1996 and now helps raise funds for many programs, such as sending students to the running camps, funding the local kids summer track program, providing scholarships to high students that participate in running and fitness activities.
From the start, Joe has been involved with the Nate Race using his background in art and illustration to assist with event shirt designs and race day set up. Joe did not run in the race, as he would never run with Nate unless it was within other sports.
Finally in 2001, Joe decided to lace up his own pair of running shoes and attempt to conquer the 10-mile Mountain Goat Run, his first ever race. Going into the event, Joe pledged to run the course in 80 minutes, which he ran right on the dot. That same year, Joe ran the Nate Race for the first time as well. After the race, it was at that point Joe decided to take over Nate’s “running shoes to the best of his ability.”
Continuing his new love for running, Joe joined the Syracuse Track Club and has completed well over 100 races including running the Mountain Goat Run eight times now and two Marathons.
As the Nate Race has gone on, Joe continues to be very involved with the event. He continues to run in the race each year and has designed and printed the shirts for 22 years.
Of course Joe can’t devote all of his time to running and putting on the Nate Race. There is a good chance that many of the local race shirts you have collected within the past few years have been printed by Joe. This is how CNY Racing was created, which gives him the opportunity to provide for something that he loves to do, running.
Since Joe began running in 2001, he has completed many events but still gets butterflies every race. Regardless of the distance, everyone has a time during a race where they feel like they are hurting and need a little kick. But during that time, Joe feels that Nate is on his side pushing him along.
Joe has competed in hundreds of races, secretly prefers any run ten miles and under, but will run 13.1 when needed. Providing specialized medals and apparel for over ten years, Joe is a top resource for Race Directors. His running career, product knowledge and creativity has helped him create great items and designs that runners look forward to every year.
Fred "Woody " Woodworth started running at the young age of 56. He eased his way in to running, skipping over the 5k distance and starting his first race ever at the Utica Boilermaker 15k. With his attention to detail and passion for working with people, Woody customer service take the pressure of race directors already stressed environment.
Jeff, unlike Joe, has no problem running races over ten miles. He has completed 28 marathons, with no signs of stopping anytime soon. Also a trained scientist with a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology, Jeff decided to follow his passions for running and helping others and joined Joe at CNY Racing. His warm demeanor, knowledge of running and desire to create amazing products has made Jeff a valuable asset to our team.
Dan is our production manager and screen printer, who is coming up to his 10 year anniversary of first picking up the squeegee. He enjoys running 5ks but REALLY enjoys Mud Runs.
She is the keeper of the accounts and payables and helps the sales and marketing team keep everything running smoothly so we can continue to help our Race Director customers.

Mindy joined our team in Aug 2017, having been in the promotional products industry for the last decade. She has a wide knowledge of products we offer for and beyond your race needs. You will often see her at our expos, holding down the fort while the rest of the CNY Racing team is running.
Tom has been with CNY since 2016, bringing many years of screen printing and merchandise experience with him. Tom began running at the Nate Race 12k as his first race and has recently completed his first half marathon. Tom enjoys networking with merchandise manufactures and traveling.

Bob keeps things running smooth in the warehouse; from managing our online stores to making sure orders are ready for pickup. Bob is also our main embroidery operator, keeping up on the latest methods and techniques.
Chris ran cross country and track & field competitively during his four years at SUNY Oneonta. He helped bring his team to the NCAA tournament his senior year and captured an individual SUNYAC title in the Indoor 5k. As well, he was introduced to screen printing in Oneonta and has further developed his printing skills during his time at CNY Racing. Chris joined the team in May of 2019.
Brad?s first ever race was the Nate Race 5k in 2017. His second was IM Syracuse 70.3 only 1 week later. After a near 2 hour PR the following year on the same course, Brad has gone on to complete several road races from 5k?s to a full marathon. He now enjoys meeting runners through race expos and working at CNY Racing. Come stop by to be greeted by Brad at the front desk! Brad joined the team in July of 2019.
Rick is a former competitive runner who now enjoys Crossfit to stay in shape. No stranger to hotels and travelling, you can find him timing & scoring races all throughout the United States each weekend. As our resident expert for race production and strategic marketing, Rick founded and directs the Syracuse Half Marathon; which has grown to over 6,000 entrants in its? first five years. Rick is also the Race Director for the oldest consecutively run foot race in the world (est. 1896), the YMCA Buffalo Turkey Trot, which boasts an impressive 14,000 entrants each year.
